Understanding Cinema 4D's interface, layouts, and customization
Main Interface Areas
Cinema 4D's interface is divided into several key areas:
- Main Menu Bar: Top of the interface, contains all main commands and options
- Command Palette: Below menu bar, contains frequently used tools and commands
- Viewport: Central area where you view and manipulate 3D content
- Object Manager: Right side, hierarchical view of scene objects
- Attribute Manager: Right side, shows properties of selected items
- Material Manager: Bottom, displays and manages materials
- Coordinates Manager: Bottom right, precise transformation controls
Layout Management
Cinema 4D allows extensive layout customization:
Saving Layouts:
- Window → Layout → Save Layout As...
- Choose a name for your layout
- Select save location (local or network)
Loading Layouts:
- Window → Layout → Load Layout...
- Select previously saved layout
- Or choose from preset layouts

- Frame Selection: F key
- Frame All: H key
- Toggle Perspective/Isometric: Right-click viewport, Camera

- Drag manager tabs to dock in different locations
