Cinema 4D object, simulation, and logic tags
Overview
Tags in Cinema 4D add functionality to objects, control rendering, enable simulation, and provide rigging and logic. Below are the most common tags and their uses.
Tips
- • Right-click an object to add tags from the context menu.
- • Tags can be copied, moved, and stacked for combined effects.
- • Some tags (like Phong, Texture) are added automatically.
- • Use
Protection Tag
to lock objects during animation. - • The
XPresso Tag
enables node-based logic.
Rendering & Display Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
Phong Tag | Controls smoothing of surfaces for rendering. |
Display Tag | Overrides object display settings (visibility, shading, etc.). |
Compositing Tag | Controls object visibility in render passes and compositing. |
External Compositing Tag | Exports object data for use in external compositing apps. |
Dynamics & Simulation Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
Rigid Body Tag | Enables dynamic simulation for objects (collisions, gravity, etc.). |
Collider Body Tag | Makes objects act as collision surfaces in simulations. |
Cloth Tag | Turns objects into cloth for simulation. |
Hair Tag | Adds hair simulation and styling to objects. |
Rigging & Animation Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
Protection Tag | Locks position, scale, and rotation to prevent accidental changes. |
IK Tag | Enables inverse kinematics for joints and rigs. |
Constraint Tag | Constrains objects to other objects or paths. |
Target Tag | Makes objects point at a target object. |
Weight Tag | Stores weight maps for deformation and rigging. |
Materials & Selection Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
Texture Tag | Applies materials and textures to objects. |
Selection Tag | Stores polygon, edge, or point selections for objects. |
Bake Texture Tag | Bakes textures and maps for export. |
Tracking & Baking Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
Motion Tracker Tag | Used for camera and object motion tracking. |
Logic & XPresso Tags
Tag | Description |
---|---|
